Effekta AC Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Effekta Regeltechnik are experts in uninterruptible power supplies, and offer a wide range of AC UPS solutions. With so many different options, selecting the right AC UPS for you can be a daunting process, which is why we have created this guide to highlight the four main types of AC UPS we can offer, and the important factors of each UPS within that range.
Line Interactive AC UPS
Line Interactive UPS are usually the lowest cost options when selecting a UPS, but offer a battery backed solution for load autonomy. Typically available in smaller form factors with a design for office and home use, key specifications of line interactive UPS are:
-
Passthrough Power On Mains – During standard operation, the input to the unit bypasses the batteries and is sent to the output.
-
Switchover on Mains Failure – A short changeover (typically 5mS) will switch from the failed mains to battery power. For most applications this changeover is not noticeable.
-
Cost-Effective – This technology differs from double conversion and as it is simpler it allows for lower cost solutions.
The Effekta Range includes:
-
Compact RM – 750VA to 3000VA options in a 19” Rack Mounted Solution. A simple design for small servers and computer racks.
-
Office RM – 600VA to 1000VA rack mounted systems. Designed for slimmer cabinets, with a compact design and low installation depth.
-
Office – 800VA to 2000VA tower UPS. Compact design and a familiar tower form factor makes these suitable for smaller PC and peripheral use.
-
MTX – 800VA to 3000VA modern tower UPS, with true sinewave output whilst battery powered. Larger output powers and optional battery packs offer extended output options.
-
MTD RT – 1000VA to 3000VA outputs with a versatile Rack or Tower mounting option. With options for SNMP/relay cards, expandable battery packs and programmable outputs, this offers advanced features.
Double Conversion UPS
Double Conversion, sometimes named true online, are UPS that offer a seamless change over from AC mains input, to battery backed AC output when mains fails. With advanced technology, the important aspects are:
-
Double Converted Output - The AC input is converted into DC to charge the batteries, and then converted back into AC for the output. This makes it converted twice, or double conversion.
-
Seamless Output On Mains Failure – As the output is already converted, upon mains failure the AC output is supplied by the DC batteries so there is no break in power supply at all.
-
Input and Output Isolation – Due to this methodology, the output AC is not directly connected to the input AC.
With this, the Effekta range includes:
-
Adira RT – 700VA to 3000VA rack tower solutions, utilising lead acid batteries and a power factor of 1.0. With both line interactive and full sinewave output selectable, this is a modern unit with traditional lead acid batteries.
-
Adira Li RT – 1000VA to 3000VA with the advantages of the Adira RT range alongside lithium batteries, offering extended battery life.
-
RT Lithium – 1000VA to 3000VA, with a compact Rack Tower design. Lithium batteries and selectable distribution to connected loads offers extended autonomy to compact spaces.
-
Adira T – 1000VA to 3000VA, and 6kVA to 10kVA the Adira T is available across 2 size ranges. Lower outputs offer a compact tower system, whilst the larger systems offer extended autonomy time via external battery packs whilst maintain the compact tower form factor.
-
Adira RT 6-10kVA – Designed to be compact whilst offering very high autonomy times with further external battery packs. With 19” Rack Mounting or Tower installation, this range offers high output powers and autonomies with flexibility for integrators.
Large Systems
Whilst the Adira RT range offers up to 10kVA, larger output systems can still be offered. From 6kVA to 200kVA, these larger systems are designed with high output, high autonomy requirements in mind. Aspects of the range involve:
-
Double Conversion, True Sinewave Standard – As standard, these units will have double conversion, true sinewave outputs so you’re receiving the highest standard of technology. For further choice, ECO modes on some models offer line interactive for higher efficiencies and user choice.
-
Single and Three Phase Options –Three Phase Input to Single Phase Output, and Three Phase to Three Phase are now added options.
-
Rack Mount or Cabinet Options – Options are available for rack mount or fully built cabinets. For integrators, we can offer solutions that are best suited to your physical requirements.
The range includes:
-
Minerva – 10-20kVA solutions, with a single phase or three phase input, to single phase output. A physically slim tower form factor with easy to use LCD creates a simple to integrate UPS.
-
Trias RM – 6-10kVA, with a 3 phase input to single phase output in a rack mounted form factor. Options to achieve n+x redundancy, for extremely critical system support.
-
Thor RM – 10-30kVA, with 3 phase input to 3 phase output. Rack Mounted with options for very high autonomy outputs and module redundancy up to 4 systems.
-
Triton Range – 10kVA up to 200kVA, the Triton range comprises of four sizes of systems, typically based on the output power they offer:
-
TRITON PF1 – 10-40kVA
-
TRITON M1 – 10-40kVA
-
TRITON M2 – 60-80kVA
-
TRITON M3 – 120-200kVA
-
Modular Systems
With outputs up to 200kVA, the large systems are complimented by the modular systems. Utilising Thor series modules, outputs of up to 600kVA can be achieved, and offer a wider range of output power options past 200kVA. For solutions with very specific requirements, the modular range offers a further degree of customisation.
-
THOR 31 – 6-30kVA Modular system that offers high outputs with a 3 phase input and single phase output.
-
THOR II – The largest of Effekta’s systems are 3 Phase modular solutions with integrated battery modules. These are split into the following ranges:
-
THOR TB20 – 10-60kVA
-
THOR T20 – 10-200kVA
-
THOR T50 – 60-600kVA
