Frequency Converters (FAQ)
What is a Frequency Converter?
A frequency converter is a device that will take one AC input and supply an AC output with a different frequency. The converter will take an AC input, convert this to DC, and then back to AC with the required frequency and voltage. This output AC can be the same, or a different AC voltage, making it suitable for applications that need to emulate a different country or just need a faster of lower frequency rate. For example, a frequency converter can be used to take a 230Vac 50hz UK input, and supply a 115Vac 60hz North American output. Whilst this isn't the exclusive use case, they supply an output that has both a specified voltage and frequency.
Are there Single and Three Phase Frequency Converters?
We can offer frequency converters that input single phase and output single phase, as well as input three phase and output three phase.
There are some applications that are available with a three phase input and single phase output. As frequency converters are made to specification, please contact us with as much information on your requirement so we can offer a solution.
